MYCOREMEDIATION
Bioremedition using fungi

See OUR FUNGI NEWS BELOW

The Fungi Alliance: Sustainable Earth Research  Far North Fungi and Paxaro Solutions, are developing a sustainable remediation method for Petroleum Hydrocarbons to provide efficient and sustainable remediation through restoring the soil ecosystem while degrading organic contaminants.

Mycoremediation has been proposed and tested since the 70’s and studies show fungi degrades harmful organic substances in soil and water. Applying the technique outside of the lab involves working with complex site characteristics and requires sampling, analysis, and test studies. We are prototyping the application of this technique in Alaska and believe it will especially benefit remote, rural areas.
The Fungi Alliance initiated a pilot study in June 2018 at a land-spread area located on the Anchorage International Airport property. A report for the first year of this pilot study can be downloaded as PDF file below.

We recently started to evaluate sustainable ways for our mycoremediation by using waste products readily available:
Our first trial are used pizza boxes and its works great - see our end of summer slide show .... and downloadable tech sheets for Fungi-Biopile below
